Blocked fire exit detection: make sure the way out is always clear

A pallet pushed against a door "just for a minute" can stay there for days. Eye AI blocked-exit detection is being built to watch exits and escape routes through your existing CCTV and log when something blocks them and for how long. It does not replace your fire alarms or inspections. It helps you catch the obstruction habit before an inspector, or an emergency, does.

ILLUSTRATION WITH SAMPLE DATA · IN PILOT

The problem

Exits get blocked by stock, trolleys and parked items, usually while someone is busy with something else.

Weekly walk-rounds cannot see what happens between rounds.

When an inspection finds a blocked exit, you cannot show how often it happens.

How it works

  1. Camera-readiness check. We look at the camera views that cover your exits and routes and say which are usable.
  2. Mark the exit zone. You or our team outline the exit door and the clear path in front of it.
  3. Pilot.A computer at your site analyses the video, which stays on your network. During the pilot we review results with you.
  4. Get the record. When something stays in the exit zone for the set time, the event is logged with the duration and a snapshot. A daily report shows whether exits were clear.

What you get

  • Blocked-exit events with duration and a snapshot.
  • A daily exit-clear report.
  • Searchable history, so you can see which exits are blocked most often.
  • CSV export for audits and safety meetings.
  • A motion safety net that shows movement the system could not name.

Where it is used

Honest limits

  • Blocked-exit detection is launching with pilot partners. It is in development and not yet generally available.
  • We publish no accuracy figure now. Figures will be published after on-site validation, with the conditions stated.
  • It works for objects that stay in the exit zone for a set time. Something moved through quickly is not a blockage.
  • It needs a clear camera view of the exit. Doors hidden by racking, or views in poor light, may not suit it.
  • It is a monitoring aid. It does not replace fire alarms, fire drills, inspections or your legal duties. Fire and smoke detection is on our roadmap and is not available.
  • Phone alerts are part of the separate alerts add-on, which is also launching.
  • Pilots are scoped to your requirements first: we agree the duration, the number of cameras and how success is checked on your own footage before anything starts.
