Parking analytics: tell parked vehicles from passing ones, with visit times
Parking and dwell time measures how long each vehicle stays in a bay or zone, then labels the visit as parked or passing. A car that drives through is not counted as a parking visit. A car that stops gets a start time, an end time and a duration. It is for parking operators, residential society managers, property and facility teams, retail and hotel operations, and warehouse yards who want to see how space is really used.
ILLUSTRATION WITH SAMPLE DATA
The problem
Disputes about "how long was that vehicle here?" are settled by memory or by scrubbing footage.
Passing traffic and genuinely parked vehicles get mixed up in simple counts.
Nobody can say how full a lot was at 11 a.m. last Thursday.
How it works
- Mark the bay or zone.On an existing camera view, you draw the parking area or the spot you care about.
- Eye AI watches each vehicle. The analysis runs on a computer at your site.
- Visits are timed.A vehicle that keeps moving is labelled passing. One that stays still long enough is labelled parked, and its timer runs.
- You read the day.Visits and occupancy appear in the dashboard, ready to filter or export.
What you get
- Visit start, end and duration. Each parked vehicle has a clear record, useful when a dispute or a complaint arrives.
- Parked versus passing. Through traffic does not inflate your parking numbers.
- Occupancy over a day. See when the area fills and when it empties.
- Type and colour, as estimates, and a searchable history with CSV export through Event history and reports.
Honest limits
- A visit can split in two if the system restarts in the middle of it. The two parts will show as separate visits.
- This analytic times vehicles. It does not read number plates. Plate identification is a separate analytic (Beta, with a site survey first).
- A vehicle half hidden behind another, or seen from a very shallow angle, can be missed or merged.
- Night, glare and headlights make small or dark vehicles harder to see.
- The "parked" label needs the vehicle to stay still for a set time. A very brief stop is treated as passing.
- Occupancy reflects what the camera can see. Bays outside the view are not counted.
Questions about parking and dwell time
Does it read number plates?
No. Parking and dwell times visits only. Plate reading is a separate analytic that needs a site survey first.
Can it tell me how long a truck sat in a yard?
Yes, for a zone the camera can see. You get the start, end and duration of the visit.
What if a car stops briefly to drop someone off?
A very short stop is treated as passing. Only vehicles that stay still for the set time are labelled parked.
Can I export the visits?
Yes. Filter by date, hour or zone and export to CSV.
Do I need new cameras?
No. It uses your existing network cameras with a clear view of the area.
